The Rock Band franchise is one of the most famed series on a mobile platform. Rock Band: Reloaded can already be found at the App Store, and is playable on iPad. This new game sports over twenty tracks and also gives you the chance to buy some more songs through the game music store. Gamers can participate in four-player local wifi sessions (vocals included). If you don’t like the thought of singing into your iPad, Rock Band: Reloaded also comes with a singe player campaign, in which you have to achieve different things (which you can immediately share on Facebook). Among the bands featured in the game are Evanescence, 3 Doors Down and Seether. Again, you will be able to find many more at the music store.
TXT Fighter is playable on both the iPhone and the iPad. It is not the first mobile game which mixes entertainment with a typing tutor, with Sega already doing that with their horror-themed Typing of the Dead. TXT Fighter is created by Chillingo and it aims to teach gamers to become more keyboard-competent while they have fun fighting opponents in the Street Fighter fashion. What’s more, Apple’s pretty good (although far from being flawless) auto-correct function ensures that the texting is precise. The game will be available starting next week, and it will be interesting to see whether the a gameplay method (texting) which works fine on mobiles will go with a genre with a rather obscure reputation on the platform.
Neon Battle HD is another game from Chillingo, which will only be playable on the iPad. The game is a shape-based space shooter (the shooting ship is stationary). Although this is another genre with little success on a mobile platform due to the absence of a twin-stick shooter, Neon Battle HD might just have what it takes. With a turret at one side of the screen, you can concentrate on pointing the cannon at incoming enemies. The winning condition of the game is to destroy the foe’s shields, by launching missiles through the simple „pull back and let go” movement, just like in Angry Birds. This type of gameplay works really well whether you’re in singleplayer or in multiplayer mode.

Monopoly is another game with great potential to be released by EA, but sadly only iPad owners will be able to play it. It is basically the same game you’ve known since you were little, but the presentation on the iPad will surely impress you; the game can be set up as a board with four sides, with the four players taking turns. Another great thing is the „Teacher Mode”, which, aside from showing the rules of the game, also offers various strategies and gives you an idea of what properties you should buy early in the game. This mode will especially appeal to new users, but die-hard fans have also got a few things to learn. Players can also set up new house rules, so that those long playing sessions don’t get too boring.
