Being Italian in the world of video games appears to be highly dangerous, there is adventure and prizes, but above all danger. Sometimes there is a princess to rescue, but most usually only think you're avoiding something trying to kill you, and return the favor by jumping on their heads.

In fact, that we live every day.

Pizza Boy is a tribute to Super Mario Bros who recently turned 25. The game is very similar, only with some updates and adapted for iPhone.

You're a pizza delivery man who was trying to keep order when the pizza was stolen by a bird and take it. The argument is ridiculous, but there begins the adventure where you have to chase the bird through three different worlds and twelve levels.

The game is essentially a platform where you avoid obstacles and jump over the heads of enemies to kill them. Get strawberries instead of coins and throw cans of milk instead of fireballs. Sometimes it feels like Super Mario but with a different skin. This is not bad, quite the opposite. After all if it is to copy an old game, it better be a classic.

The Pizza Boy controls are fairly simple, although I've never been a big fan of virtual controls. Luckily the game does not put the buttons on either side where you can bother yourself with your thumb. At the bottom of the screen is a section where you have to jump and fire buttons and a lever to move left or right.

Not perfect, but I prefer this look before putting fingers in the middle of the action and block the view. It is also worth mentioning that these controls are more sensitive than others I've tried virtual buttons on the iPhone.

Unfortunately, the game has several flaws. Do not ruin the game, but definitely leave a bit tarnished. Due to controls on the touch screen is hard to be ultra precise. This is sometimes required to jump from platform to platform. Pizza Boy has no checkpoints for the level, so if you die you must start the whole level again and it is quite frustrating.

The other issue is the lack of "Go on." If you run out of life there is no way to track your progress, and you have to start the game again. While it is true that in times of Super Mario games were so, we've come a long way since then in regard to checkpoints and continuous, and really feel the need here.

Pizza Boy is a love letter to the old platform games, and no doubt played as such. It also has retro graphics, very nice, and fun music complete a beautiful package despite some flaws.
